2024 has been Anditi’s biggest year by far, with new products, partners, and clients all contributing to the growth and success that we have experienced. We've completed some of our biggest projects ever, won some amazing awards and adapted our proprietary in-house technology in completely new ways across the world.

World’s largest ever AiRAP project successfully completed!

Using RoadViewer, which is the world’s only AiRAP accredited inspection system and automatically extracts information from remote sensing data such as LiDAR and imagery, we completed the world’s largest ever AiRAP project, successfully evaluating almost 20,000km of Main Roads Western Australia’s road network, resulting in the following awards and recognition:

· Geospatial Council of Australia’s Innovation Award (Small Business) 2024

· International Road Federation’s Innovation & Technology Award 2024 – Finalist

· Main Roads Western Australia’s Managing Director’s Excellence Award for Innovation – 2024

Along with other AiRAP projects that were completed for other state and local governments in 2024, this MRWA project demonstrated that AiRAP’s superior accuracy, repeatability and objectivity can be successfully applied to large scale projects, leading to Anditi winning a contract to use AiRAP Star Rating methodology to assess 6,000km of Transport and Main Roads Queensland’s National Land Transport Network.

Award Winning Road Safety Projects in Vietnam!

We were also internationally recognised for our involvement in the AI&Me: Empowering Youth for Safer Roads project in Vietnam. Together with our partners AIP Foundation and iRAP, and funded by Foundation Botnar and FIA Foundation, this project empowered Vietnamese youth to identify high risk areas near schools and leveraged the power of Big Data to support government action. It was the recipient of multiple awards, including:

· Prince Michael International Road Safety Award - 2024

· Project Management Institute (2024) - Top 20 Most Influential Global SDG Projects

The success of this project led to the creation of a Google.org funded AI&Me: Leveraging AI tool for road safety impact, where Anditi, AIP Foundation and University of Zagreb will use imagery and AI to drive change and create safer environments for children around schools.

Tackling Urban Heat Alongside AiRAP Star Ratings

Our innovative project which addressed City of Blacktown’s twin concerns of urban heat and road safety was also recognised internationally and in Australia. By using AiRAP Star Ratings, LiDAR, Point Cloud Modelling, and Geospatial Analysis, we were able to identify safe locations for trees to be planted along the road corridor to maximise shading, reduce surface temperatures, increase carbon sequestration, and improve liveability, with no negative impact on road safety.

We were invited to present this novel case study to many audiences in Australia and overseas, including at the prestigious International Road Federation’s World Road Congress in Istanbul, where it was a Finalist for the Climate Resilience & Adaption Award 2024. A link to the case study is here.

Expanding RoadViewer’s portfolio

2024 also saw the introduction of many additions to RoadViewer’s portfolio.

One of these was RoadCoder, which seamlessly couples with QGIS to enable imagery-based road corridor QA and analysis. This has become a fantastic new tool for use by Anditi staff and clients, particularly for iRAP and road condition assessment purposes, improving efficiency, accuracy and ease of workflow.

We even developed a method for automatically evaluating bus stop accessibility for one of Australia’s largest public transport departments, turning a once costly and time-consuming manual job into a simple automated process.

Wind Turbine Route Clearance and Swept Path Analysis as simulated in our RoadViewer software

Another area where RoadViewer has achieved great results is in route clearance and swept path analysis for OSOM vehicles.

We've made huge advancements in the way we model trajectories of large vehicles and cargo, even with loads of wind turbine size, influencing the way companies design the necessary vehicles and the travel routes themselves!

We've completed projects for wind farm operators and utilities companies in Australia and overseas, with more currently being worked on.

And of course, we continue to develop and evolve the feature extraction algorithms that RoadViewer is built on, extracting a wide range of features such as trees, kerbs, median strips, signs, poles and posts, powerlines, footpaths, road crowns, and many more!

Introducing LiCarb – a new methodology for calculating carbon sequestration from LiDAR

Responding to the challenge of needing to estimate carbon sequestration Australia-wide for the purposes of evaluating progress against Net Zero targets and assessing carbon credits, we developed LiCarb. LiCarb uses calibrated aerial and mobile LiDAR to accurately assess and monitor forest-based carbon storage and carbon sequestration at scale and has been utilised by the government and private sector in 2024.

Helping to protect endangered Malleefowl bird species

One of our unique offerings is our ability to use aerial LiDAR to find the nesting mounds of the endangered Malleefowl birds, and 2024 was our biggest ever year.

Supported by our friends at the National Malleefowl Recovery Group and working for clients across mining, Government, and environmental organisations, we completed a record number of projects across many different parts of regional Australia.

Our hope is that using Anditi's advanced LiDAR technology, we can assist these organisations to help preserve a beautiful and uniquely Australian piece of fauna for years to come!

That's all to say, that this year we've done some pretty amazing things. We've been truly innovative, taking on projects from all walks of life, all over the world.

From the team here at Anditi, we want to say a heartfelt thanks to all of our partners, suppliers, clients, staff and supporters who have helped us to achieve our biggest year ever!

We wish everyone all the best over the holiday season, and we are looking forward to working with you again in 2025!
